This 2003 Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless is a great option for players who want that familiar Fender Jazz Bass feel, but with the smoother, more vocal character that only a fretless bass can give you.
Made in Mexico in 2003, this bass features a Brown Sunburst alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretless fingerboard with white line markers, which makes it a little more approachable if you are newer to fretless playing. You still get the freedom and expression of a fretless, but with helpful visual reference points along the board.
The setup is simple and classic: two Standard Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, individual volume controls for each pickup, and a master tone control. That gives you plenty of usable sounds, from warm and round to bright and articulate, depending on how you blend the pickups.
Fretless basses are not for everybody — but for the right player, they can open up a whole different feel. Slides are smoother, notes have more personality, and there is a vocal quality that you just do not get from a standard fretted bass. This one would be right at home in jazz, fusion, R&B, worship, recording work, or anywhere you want a more expressive bass voice.
This bass is preowned, so it may show normal signs of use from age and handling. Please check the photos closely, and feel free to reach out with any questions before purchasing. Or come visit us and try it out yourself!
